Artists Statement

My work involves a truncated pyramidal motif in which is applied alongside as well as incorporated with ready-made objects which once had a function to which I take it away from the objects associated with. Also my work has progressed from a ‘statue’ like sculpture bringing in movement whether it is using a motor or if it involves interaction from the spectator. The use of satirical humour in my works makes them less serious but adds more to them including the noise which the contraptions make.

Having looked at Marcel Duchamp as well as Jean Tinguely looking at how they used ready-made objects as well as kinetic works too. As well as looking at those who first used ready-made objects to those who use them now such as Michael Landy. I’ve also look at those who use humour in their work such as Damien Hirst.

The use of found objects for me is what I like as it has had a life to it and that I have now given it a different purpose. Also the use of kinetic in the work has helped in taking my work less serious as just sculpture and seeing as it could be a sculpture.
